"The funniest show I have ever seen" - Pat Short. "A mad comedy, Monty Pythonesque humour at a mad frantic pace… a merciless send up.. Its a good laugh all the way" - Evening Herald The Poor Mouth by Myles na gCopaleen. Any attempt to describe this two act piece of theatre as anything other than a mad comedy would be totally inaccurate. This two-man show, featuring Paul Lee as The Ould Grey Fella and Ciaran Kenny as Bonapart O'Coonassa is a rumbustious comedy which hurls out satirical one-liners at a frantic pace. This is the award winning comedy play adapted from the book of the same name written by Flann O'Brien (Myles na gCopaleen). The play was adapted for stage by Paul Lee and first presented in the pub An Beal Bocht, Charlemont Street for the Dublin Theatre Festival in 1989. From there it went on to tour Ireland and England and won the Guardian Critics Choice Award at the Edinburgh Festival 1991. Set design was by Blaithin Sheerin and the original production was directed by Ronan Smith. (This production directed by Paul Lee with additional design by Mick Gleason) "This 90minute comedy is dominated by hilarious aspects of ancient Gaelic life which have to be seen to be believed. A must" - Irish Press "Politically it is refreshing, pushing over not only the myths of the spud thick Irish, their poverty and misery, but satirizing boastful nostalgia as well. It will be enjoyed by all except those who want their prejudices to remain unassailed " - City Limits, London. "A rumbustious mad-cap comedy" Catch it, as its likes will not be there again" - Sunday Independent. "A brilliantly funny depiction of the early bog life in Corkadoragha. A comic masterpiece" - Time Out. London "Go and see it again and again” - Tom Mathews. "If you want a powerfully peaceful statement about Irish individuality and a whopping good time, go and see it…. A masterpiece" - The Guardian. www.milltheatre.com
