![]() A landmark Dublin venue, The HaPenny Bridge Inn, dubbed "a cracking comedy venue" by HotPress magazine, over the years has played host to some of the biggest names in Irish entertainment history from Thin Lizzy to Dermot Morgan (Fr Ted himself!). Since 1996 it has been a favourite for stand up comedy in Dublin and has hosted all the top names in Irish comedy such as Perrier Award winner Tommy Tiernan, Des Bishop and Jason Byrne. Comedy every Wednesday took off there in 2000 and continued under the stewardship of several different people and then on January 23rd 2005 Capital Comedy Club was founded on Wednesday nights as well as the then recently established Sunday Nights. Since then it has gone from strength to strength establishing itself as a fixture on the comedy circuit attracting both Irish and visiting comedy goers in their droves, even winning a Failte Ireland Welcome Award for services to the Irish tourism industry. The Wednesday and Sunday nights of Capital Comedy Club are now the fourth and fifth oldest continuously running comedy nights in Ireland and have played host to almost 250 performers from a dozen countries.
